  • Orlando, Fla. (June 30, 2021) – Less than two months after expanding into the Orlando market, AR/VR training firm, 3D Media, has received notice of the award of a major contract.

The company signed a SBIR phase two modification contract with the Air Force’s Rapid Sustainment Office (AFRSO) for the company’s augmented reality solution for the F-15E platform. This contract valued more than $1.5 million over 12 months enables 3D Media to further accelerate development of the solution developed under a previous SBIR contract with the Rapid Sustainment Office.

The company plans to add seven full- and part-time positions in the Orlando area because of this contract.

“Our goal is to successfully scale, secure and sustain our augmented- and virtual-reality solutions across the Air Force and throughout the Department of Defense,” says Daryl Roy, CEO, 3D Media. “We’re very appreciative of the trust given to us by the Air Force Rapid Sustainment Office and the help of our partners Taqtile, Precision Procurement Solutions and ArborXR.”

“The AFRSO is continuously applying new and emerging technologies to the biggest logistics challenges across the Air Force,” said Nathan Parker, Deputy PEO of the Air Force Rapid Sustainment Office. “The training solution Daryl and his team developed is already proving to be effective.  This follow-on contract will focus on user expansion and enable 3D Media to deliver a more robust platform we can deploy across the Air Force to improve both training and flightline maintenance.”

3D Media is a developer of augmented reality and virtual reality experiences. The company’s augmented experiences overlay on the world around us, providing unparalleled – and lifesaving – information to employees, decreasing incidents, and improving training and development practices.

Using the company’s virtual reality experiences, workers are transported to an entirely new world where they can safely – and effectively – undergo complex, high-risk, and high-impact training with no fear of impact to real-world safety, cost, or training effectiveness.

The company recently expanded to the Orlando area from its Louisiana headquarters, using the UCF Research Park Innovation District’s soft landing program to be a part of what it calls the “Modeling, Simulation and Training Capital of the World.”
